Virtual Tour of

Palenque

In the State of Tabasco lie the ruins of Palenque. This classic Maya site lies against the hills that looks out toward the plain of the Usamacinto River as it stretches to the Atlantic Ocean. Palenque is a Mayan ceremonial centre that achieved its utmost splendour approximately between the 4th and the 8th century of this Era. The perfect architecture of this place is rich in plaster and bas-reliefs of limestone. The Mayas, who were well ahead in time, succeeded in having a good grasp of accurate sciences such as Mathematics, since they were the first ones to have used the zero.
