California Road 2 Over The San Gabriel Mountains,
California
Location
The San Gabriel Mountains lie immediately to the north of Los Angeles,
and separate it from the Mojave Desert.
California State Road 2 runs from La Canada and Flintridge, just north
of Glendale and Pasadena, over the San Gabriel Mountains.
Description
Road 2 is a turning off the Foothills Boulevard, which is a normal heavily
built up part of Los Angeles. Within just a few hundred yards up Road 2
you are in a different world. You might be high in the Sierra
Nevada Mountains or even in the middle of Colorado.
There is hardly any traffic, no commercial buildings - just a few occasional
houses in the forest. The road climbs up over the mountains and the views
steadily improve.
If you have some time to spare, this road is well worth taking.
