Cripple Creek, Victor and Colorado State Road 67 North of Cañon City

Phantom Canyon

Location

From the little town of Divide on US24, Colorado State Road 67 runs south to Cripple Creek and Victor. South of Victor it continues to cross US50 near Cañon City.

Description

Cripple Creek, while in a very scenic area, is a small but rather touristy town with shops selling gold trinkets.

Victor is an even smaller town.

Colorado State Road 67 is extremely scenic. However, between Victor and US50 the road descends through Phantom Canyon and is narrow and unpaved, with many turns and some moderately steep sections. The other sections of this road are paved and can be driven without difficulty.

A tourist railway line runs between Cripple Creek and Victor.

Pikes Peak lies between Cripple Creek and Victor (on one side) and Colorado Springs (on the other side).
