A few miles from the town of Hungry Horse, Montana, which is not far from the western entrance to Glacier National Park.
This dam retains the Hungry Horse reservoir, which forms part of the upper Columbia River system.

Extensive free parking area.
There are exhibit rooms and a small visitor centre.
There is an excellent and extensive free self guided tour of the interior of the dam. You start by taking one of the elevators down from the top of the dam, then follow the signs. At one point on the tour you emerge out into the open at the very foot of the dam.
