Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, New Jersey and Pennsylvania

The Delaware Water Gap is a natural gorge carved by the Delaware River, with cliffs of about 1200 feet on each side. It is located in northern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania.

The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area extends along the river and its banks between East Stroudsburg (Pennsylvania) and Port Jervis (New York State). However, the actual gorge is only about two miles long, at the southern end. Take the exit from Interstate 80 immediately east of the toll bridge over the Delaware at the New Jersey/Pennsylvania state line.

Despite its proximity to New York City, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is an extremely rural area.
