Tourist attractions and places worth visiting

Interstate 15, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Utah

Although most Interstate highways are not particularly scenic, I-15 is interesting throughout most of its length. This Interstate runs north-north-east from Los Angeles to the Canadian Border.

After climbing out the L.A. basin I-15 crosses the impressive Mojave Desert to Las Vegas. I-15 is mainly flat between L.A. and Las Vegas with only one extremely easy mountain pass. Picture (32KB)

Between Las Vegas and St George I-15 climbs through the narrow and magnificent Virgin River Gorge. The bulk of the run through Utah is through arid semi-desert; beautiful in its own bleak way. This unforgiving country certainly makes you ponder on what life must have been like for the pioneers who first crossed it in covered wagons.
